Underground Coal Mine Escape and Rescue

This NIOSH Information Circular 9522 summarizes the research findings into escape and rescue strategies for underground coal mines that was conducted in response to Section 2 of the Mine Improvement and New Emergency Response Act of 2006 (“MINER Act”) requirements that operators improve accident preparedness and response.
